Q: What is the Driver Education Course?
A: The Driver Education Course comprises of two parts:

CLASSROOM – Students must attend 30 hours of classroom instruction. Classroom topics include basic driving techniques, rules of the road, alcohol and driving, defensive driving and various driving environments. To pass the classroom part of the driver education course, the student must attend all 30 hours of class; participate in class activities and, score a minimum of 80 on each test/final exam.

BEHIND THE WHEEL – Students need to have 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. In-car skills include defensive driving skills, basic maneuvers, parallel parking, and road driving under various conditions. To pass the behind the wheel part of Driver's Education the student needs to complete all six hours and pass the performance standards for each lesson.

Q: What happens after the Driver Education Course?
A: Once the student has completed both the classroom and the behind the wheel parts, DRIVE NOW will issue a DRIVER EDUCATION CERTIFICATE. The new driver must take this certificate to the MVA at the time of the road test for a driver's license.
